A Walk in the Woods

I took a journey north of San Francisco to visit Muir Woods yesterday (thanks for the suggestion Josh). Muir Woods is a stunning redwood forest: beautiful redwoods stretch high into the sky, the air is fresh and crisp, and sounds of birds and trickling streams replace the hustle and bustle of the city. It was a great escape. I had a pleasant walk along many winding paths and met some friendly folks along the way. One couple from Australia gave me suggestions on places to see down under.

After leaving Muir Woods, I met up with Margie, another friend from my track days at Dartmouth. Dagny met us and we all went on a run. They took me along the coast of San Fran and out to the Golden Gate Bridge. I was told it was a beautiful run, but my friends failed to mention that it was a 9 mile run until were en route! However, seeing the coast and the Bridge at sunset was well worth the long journey.

Today, I am exploring UCLA and seeing Los Angeles a bit with Peggy before heading down under tomorrow. My adventures have been fun so far, but I can't wait to finally get to New Zealand and head off on my bike!
